Once upon a time...
In the early 1930s, a group of originalists tried to leave the ground on a machine they called a glider. In fact, it was more like a chair with wings, which these daredevils sent up into the air by means of a winch, like a kite... after sitting on it.
At the time it was necessary to be passionate! Just think, the duration of the flights was of the order of a minute! The flight logs of the time sometimes mention the trajectory performed. In particularly favourable conditions, some even managed to make a 360° turn!
Fortunately, technology quickly evolved. More and more efficient equipment gradually became available. The small group of the beginning, of which here are some members posing in front of a Jodel in 19xx, grew and established itself in its current facilities at Laboru, which were enlarged little by little.
Today, with more than 200 members, the Royal Verviers Aviation has become one of the most important flying clubs in Belgium.
