The story begins in 2016 when two longtime friends, Yves et Pierre, decided to “cultivate authenticity” or rather "brew authenticity”.
In fact, driven by a desire to “go back to the roots” of the beer country, they began to develop a beer “like we no longer do”, with a simple recipe and “true local” ingredients.
In their garages, with a pot and a plastic bucket, their brewing story has a humble beginning. With patience and perseverance, they acquired knowledge and equipment and created their first “baby": “Hesby One”.
This name was a reminder for them not to forget their native region, Hesbaye, a real Belgian breadbasket. With the support of their family and friends, they bet on marketing it by “hiring” Brasserie de la Croix.
Their reputation grew and, in August 2019, they learned that the “Les Fleurs du Malt” brewery located in Amay wanted to sell its assets together with its “Korus” and “Mur de Huy”.
The opportunity was too good to pass up and the two friends soldiered on to make their dream of owning their own brewery come true! “La Brasserie des Plaines-Meuse” was born! And with it, they continued brewing “Hesby One”, “Korus” and “Mur de Huy”.
