Explore Château Fort de Logne and discover its history!

Discover the fortress, the lair of the brigand lords known as the “Sangliers des Ardennes” located at the top of a narrow rocky outcrop, overlooking the Ourthe valley. You can access it via a forest track from Ferme de Palogne or by taking the Circum Castellum, a discovery walk.

This remarkable site in the Liège Ourthe dominates the surroundings and has always been a natural refuge for the region's inhabitants. A garrison was established there from the end of Antiquity until the beginning of the 5th century, while in the 9th century the place served as shelter for the monks of Stavelot fleeing from the Normans. It then became the centre of an estate dependent on the abbey and a fortified castle was built there. Much later, at the end of the Middle Ages, the site fell into the hands of the brigand lords, known as the “Sangliers des Ardennes”. It was eventually bombed and destroyed on the orders of Charles V in 1521.

Discover the ruins of Château Fort de Logne independently or with an audio guide between 1 April and 11 November 13:00-17:00 during the week and 13:00-18:00 at weekends (11:00-18:00 in July and August). Guided tours in French and Dutch are available for groups throughout the year upon request (min. 20 people).

Take part in the treasure hunt

The Château Fort de Logne is also home to the Golden Goat...a strange spectre, guardian of a fabulous treasure. Alongside your team and with a map of the château, you'll solve no fewer than six puzzles! Follow the footsteps left by the Golden Goat in the château, from the top of the walls to the bottom of the mysterious tunnels to find the treasure.

This family game is suitable for all visitors and is free for families throughout the year (except July and August) when the château is open and for groups upon request.

Watch the fabulous falconry display

At the foot of Château Fort de Logne, in a unique natural and historic setting, enjoy an amazing falconry display! This is an opportunity to admire magnificent birds of prey such as eagles, buzzards, falcons and even owls flying over these medieval ruins. Displays daily in July and August at 11:30/14:00/16:00

Discover the history of the site at the Château Fort Museum

The site also has a museum located in a remarkable 16th-century farmhouse.

It tells the story of daily life in the Middle Ages and the various wars the château's inhabitants endured.

As visits to Château Fort and the Château Museum complement each other, you can get a Château Fort de Logne + Château Fort Museum pass.

These two visits can be enjoyed over two days!

Audio guides are available free of charge in 4 languages (FR - NL - DE - EN).

A guided tour is available (FR - NL - EN) for groups (min. 20 people) upon request.
