This autumn, the Musée de La Boverie is exhibiting Andy Warhol! The exhibition devoted to the Pope of Pop Art covers four decades of his work in an original way and shows the extent of his talent.
Warhol, The American Dream Factory looks back on the career of this artist, one of the most influential of the 20th century, and confronts it with the upheavals of his time.
The exhibition covers 40 years of creation and starts with Warhol's beginnings as an advertising illustrator when he moved to New York in 1949.
This exceptional exhibition displays the artist's most famous works. Loans from the Andy Warhol Museum, the MoMa and the Sonnabend Galerie share the limelight with pieces from prestigious private collections such as that of "Baby" Jane Holzer, Warhol's actress, role model and muse, or that of Paul Maréchal, exceptional in its richness and originality. Discover also a sample of Warhol's incredible creative diversity: drawings, paintings, films, prints, magazines, record sleeves, book covers. You will thus be able to enjoy a large number of works that have never been shown before or only rarely shown, while the scenographic approach plunges the visitor into the universe of the Factory through a journey punctuated by sound, images and objects.
Over the course of three decades, the tour highlights the particular moments of resonance between the work of this exceptional artist and the evolution of American society, through a multidisciplinary approach.
While it aims to question a work whose echo is still alive today, the exhibition also aims to be a living portrait of this America whose soul he captured like no other of his contemporaries.
Thanks to a rich and audacious scenography, the heart of the Boverie Museum will beat to the rhythm of Manhattan's wild nights, when musicians, poets, actors, visual artists and eccentrics from all walks of life met at the Factory.
