In the heart of the village of Henri-Chapelle, explore one of the region’s most unusual museums: The Museum of the Road. Laid out in the open air by local residents, it is made up of six strips of ground, on which road claddings from different periods of our history are recreated. The first road on show is, of course, a Roman way, followed by ones from the era of Charlemagne, Notger, Maria-Theresa, Napoleon and Albert I. This museum is adjacent to the “La Couronne”, a venerable listed building, with its primitive façade, mullioned windows and old door dating from 1704. It is one of the oldest establishments of its kind in the region – indeed, there have been records of this inn since 1637.
